Dr. Mekić is one of the most successful athletes in the history of judo in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He is European Championship gold medalist and Olympic games flag bearer. After the professional sport he dedicated himself to an academic career and he is the professor on the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education, University of Sarajevo.
